Laureated in the literature of the 16th century and the Spanish Golden Age, the region of Villa del Prado reached its peak with the arrival of the Royal Courts in Madrid.
The vineyard of the Tejoneras estate was planted in the mid-twentieth century with Grenache, and nowadays is complemented by the best foreign and domestic varieties of grapes. Today, the land of Tejoneras produces the most award-winning wines from the Region of Madrid, Spain.
Granites, quartzite and slates of the Gredos Mountains, on which foothills the Tejoneras vineyard sits since mid-twentieth century, enrich the soil that nourishes our vines. Sheltered by the southern slope, among oaks, junipers, almond and olive trees, 780 meters high, the Grenache, Cabernet-Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Petit Verdot, Petit Syrah, Tempranillo, and Pinot Noir grapes receive the precious mineral nutrition resulting from erosion, which gives our wines their unique characteristics.
Rich in minerals, fertile, beautiful golden ocher with sparkles of quartzite flakes. Of great consistency, although airy.
Cold in winter and warm in summer, well ventilated, 780 meters high but always sheltered by the summits of Gredos.
Fruit of exceptional quality, whatever the variety; treated with care until the optimum time for the harvest is considered arrived.
The vineyard of the Tejoneras estate lies on the southern slope of the Sierra de Gredos, ensuring the optimal light, and heat, for proper growth and maturation of the grapes.
It consists of twenty-one hectares of low mountain, between junipers, holm oaks and olive trees, on the southeast slope of Gredos. Protected from inclement weather by the mountains themselves.
Our winery is a small building designed to house a relatively small number of barrels. We only use oak barrels of the best quality.
The Tejoneras estate is located at the southwestern end of the community of Madrid, within the municipality of Villa del Prado. The border with the community of Castilla-La Mancha is very close, while the capital, Madrid, is 60 km away.
